Oh. My. Gods.
I admit, I was warned in no uncertain terms about this movie. But still, how bad can it be, right? We’ve all seen a lot of bad SciFi/Fantasy movies (especially during the ’80).
But honestly….
During the constructing a new subway system in London, a group of dragons (!) are accidentally awoken. Within a few years, humanity is the endangered specie, living in underground caverns in a kind of Mad Max – wannabe world. The group of people we get to follow are all but despairing that they are the last humans on earth, the harvests are going wrong (and there appear to be very few women around, although this never seems to bother anyone) and the dragons are getting…hungrier.
But out of the blue (or, at least, from USA) comes a group of Heroes (note the capital H) who has discovered something that might end the plague of dragons forever….*spoiler ahead, highlight to read*….there is only one male dragon, the rest are females!
This very thought is so absurd it made me giggle. Unfortunately its just the climax of a number of absurd logic statements and outrageously inconsequent behaviour.
There is no reason at all to see this movie. As with Dragon Heart, which Anna rec:ed a few months ago, it only proves that directors think ‘if I just throw in a few huge, fire breathing dragons and special effects, no one will note the lack of plot’. Well, we do. And now we’re just waiting for the Hobbit to come along and show the way….
