Nightcrawler - The devil inside

Nightcrawler – The devil inside

I am aghast. Appalled. Ashamed over myself.
Again.
What. The Bloody Hell. Happened?
Where is the happy-go-luck, swashbuckling, almost manopositive fuzzy elf? Where is my not-human-looking trickster? Who is this?
And where is his cute accent, btw?

Thirteen children have died absolutely horribly in a closed, guarded facility. One boy survived, but he’s so traumatized he wont speak about what happened. Only someone with teleporting abilities could have accessed the room, and we all know who that is, don’t we? Trying to solve the murders, save the boy (who is terrified at his appearance) and clearing his name, Kurt Wagner (tze encredeble Nightcrawler) sets out through Hell, shadows and limbo.
This is an interesting series, but…
….but it isn’t Nightcrawler!

He looks very human (only blue and with a tail and no pupils…alright, but you know what I mean).
He has no accent.
He has no sense of humour at all (I’ll never live down this but…Wolverine is the funniest person in this story. And he’s got a really cool hat, too)
He’s got an intimacy problem with women so huge it makes Wolvie look normal.
There are so many Nightcrawler-in-the-shower scenes you start to get suspicious.
The most interesting person around is Kurts foster-sister/ ex-lover (and that’s just plain icky) Amanda.

I am so disappointed I’ll sulk for a week. Why, oh why does some people find it impossible to leave some of their natural humour to the PECS? Legolas, Nithcrawler…it’s a conspiracy, I tell you…

Quote:
Your two gay pet snakes have heard rumors? About Satans most inner cirkel? Like his book club you mean?

Scraps:
This is the 4:th book with a title starting ‘night’ that I review here (Nightcrawler, Nightwatch (Lukyanenko), Nightrunners, Nightwatch (Pratchett) . Hrm…something Freudian, mayhap? ;oP

Heroes (tv-serie)

Och vad betyder egentligen "save the cheerleader - save the world"...

Är du det minsta förtjust i serier och superhjältar - se den!

Goda nyheter är att tv4 har köpt in serien och kommer att börja visa den i september 2007 efter Canal+ som börjar redan i februari.

Betyg: 5!

Nightwatch

Nightwatch 4/5 Sergei Lukyanenko

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away…..

Moscow, 1998.
What if there were Others amongst us, humans able to slip into Twilight, magicians, vampires, witches, shape-shifters?
What if, for thousands of years, these Others had been waging a war between the forces of Light and the forces of Darkness, senselessly killing millions of humans?
And what if….there was a truce?
For every murder – a healing.
For every lie – a beautiful truth.
For every intervention of Darkness – an equal intervention of Light.
Wouldn’t you go….
…just a little bit…
…insane…?

Anton is a rather mediocre magical of Light, working mostly indoors with analyses. But when his boss throws him out in the field of Moscow to try an find an unlicensed vampire, he suddenly finds himself in a rapidly escalating intrigues which he barely understands. A potentially Great Magician needs to be found before the Dark side curses her, a young boy of uncertain destiny needs to be swayed to the Light, another magician needs to be freed of her prison in a bird’s body and at not time must magic be used, unless you’re willing to face the hideous consequences of giving free leeway to the Dark sides murders and atrocities.
Would it be so strange if Anton just….
…snapped?

And in the end, what’s really the difference between Dark and Light – in a human perspective?

This is a great story, but it might have suffered somewhat in the translation. The language is boring, but the story moves rapidly and interestingly forward. Urban fantasy at its peak!
